Ian Blair succeeding Gai McGrath as Westpac NZ's head of retail banking with Mark Fitz-Gerald new head of business banking

Ian Blair, Westpac New Zealand's general manager of business banking, is replacing Gai McGrath as head of retail banking.

McGrath, who took the role in 2010, is returning to Australia to head up retail banking for Westpac Australia.

Blair joined Westpac NZ in December 2007 as general manager for business banking. This role covers small to medium businesses, agriculture, corporate banking, government banking and payments. Before that he was general manager for commercial banking at Westpac Australia, and before that he worked for BNZ's parent National Australia Bank.

Mark Fitz-Gerald, who has been Westpac NZ's head of wealth and head of investments and insurance, will become the new general manager for business banking. Fitz-Gerald was previously CEO of Citigroup NZ.

The appointments are subject to Reserve Bank approval.
