The Opening Bell: Where currencies start on Tuesday, December 23, 2014

The NZDUSD opens at 0.7735 (mid-rate) this morning.

Not much to report the NZD$ opens slightly lower this morning with very little flow over the past 24 hrs.

This morning we have the release of NZ’s Trade balance hitting the tapes at 10:45. Overnight tonight we have the release of the U.S. Final GDP and Core Durable Goods Orders.

Equity markets have had a positive start to the week - Dow +0.64%, Nikkei +0.08%, Shanghai +0.61%, FTSE +0.48% DAX +0.81%, CAC +0.30%.

Gold prices have started the week on the back foot down $17 to $1178, Oil prices are also lower trading at $55.45 (-2.94%).
