Former British Airways boss Ross Eddington to become ANZ chairman

ANZ has announced a board cleanout and a change of Chairman. Chairman Charles Goode will be replaced by former British Airways, Cathay Pacific and Ansett Australia CEO Rod Eddington.

New board members will include;

* former SingTel CEO Lee Hsien Yang, who is the second son of Singapore's founder and senior minister Lee Kuan Yew and brother of Singaporean Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong,

* current Lazard Carnegie Wylie co-chairman Peter Hay, who was also previously CEO of legal firm Freehills,

* current CEO of Bennelong Group Alison Watkins, who is also a former McKinsey partner and CEO of Berri and Just Group.

Current directors Margaret Jackson and Jerry Ellis will retire in March and September 2009 respectively.
