With Auckland house prices having topped an average of over $600,000 for the first time, what should be done to take the increasing heat out of the residential property market?
Obviously to many people want to live in Auckland.
The more people who want to live there the more infrastructure needs to be built. This is extremely inefficient when across the country there is a surplus of housing and infrastructure in some areas. New immigrants need to be funnelled into provincial NZ and the money spent on infrastructure spent on job creation. For ex extending the apprentice scheme in chch, further developing the medical faculty in Otago university. Further developing the zero fees polytech in Invercargil. Eradicating the rodent problem in the beehive (tongue in check).
