I am with the grinch and
I am with the grinch and proud of it.
I am sick of buying crap
I am sick of buying crap presents, that have a lifespan of less then 6months. Well made toys for the kids (and it's really hard to find something decent). Silver coins for family and staff.
Nobody needs the useless crap you get from the Warehouse or wherever, it breaks you chuck it out, waste of time and money.
I'm not planning on being a Grinch, but I refuse to waste money on useless, worthless junk!
I would have said we are
I would have said we are spending less but the man just went out and bought a heavy duty hedge trim thingy that does tall hedge tops and a new BBQ and since something always seems to get bought this time of year I put us down as spending the same. There goes my plan to go see Waitomo caves.
We are spending less as
We are spending less as saving up for a couple of cheap trips to Europe! $NZ1= 65ecents anyone?
We are simply - spending more
We are simply - spending more time.
Had a bit of cash lying
Had a bit of cash lying around in December for a change. So had bit of spend up this year. If things flop then at least I've had a chance to enjoy the money rather than the usual "beneficairy christmas:. But blimey some of that little stuff is getting pricey (nice decks of cards and basic games around the 20 to 40 buck mark! Pretty souvenoirs 70-150 a piece. Wee stocking gifts for the kiddies amount to more than what I used to receive a fortnight - each... Ever get that feeling you're trying to support the economy single handedly?
We spent more this Xmas, but
We spent more this Xmas, but we spent it all in Melbourne and got about 3 times as much gear for our money. It was better quality, too. Mostly clothing, so it all came back in the luggage nicely.
I was trying to work out how to bring back a nice new 64" Samsung TV too - NZ$4,989 in JB Hi-Fi up in Massey - AU$2,750 in JB Hi-Fi Melbourne. Go figure.
