		<description>I cannot agree with your last point. People who smoke typically save us money. In fact they do us a big favour. People who smoke do not live as long as the non-smoking population. Some reports even say that if your were to die from a smoking related illness, it will be 20 years than the average non-smoking population. If you consider how much money 20 years on the pension, senior citizen gold card benefits, health and rest-home subsidies will cost, this is how much a smoker will save the taxpayer if they were to die from smoking.

Sure they may cost the health service more when they are alive, but this is often minuscule in comparison to 20 years of care for the superinuitant/elderly. This is partly a reason why the government does not want to abolish smoking completely. Also consider dying right at the time you are ready to draw on your retirement savings. Rather than you squandering this throughout your retirement, it could be redistributed and reinvested amongst your family.

Therefore smoking is less of a financial cost to society than what you may think. In fact stupid people should be encouraged to smoke so that good tax money is not wasted upon them during their retirement.</description>
