Why have NZ bond rates all of a sudden spiked on this speech: look at the 10 yr just before 3.00pm: Up 6 bps to 1.702 in the blink of an eye. ... I am so over this bond rout.

I guess the speech made NZ government bond unattractive, therefore an immediate higher rate to compensate for the speech effect.

Jenee and Bernard Hickey. asking wonderful pointed questions. Orr is less than convincing. All his previous colorful, expressive language has gone. Showing his true bureaucrat colors and dogmatic, indoctrinated thinking.

Orr just mandated low interest rates forever. If inflation rises they can point to some vague labour data that nobody is allowed to understand.
