Harcourts sold just over half the properties the agency took to auction during election week

Harcourts sold just under half of the properties from throughout the country that the agency took to auction during election week (18-24 September).

The number of homes being auctioned remained relatively low, with Harcourts auctioning 77 properties and achieving sales on 35 of them, giving an overall sales rate of 45%.

Most of the auction activity was centred in Christchurch, where Harcourts auctioned 27 properties and achieved sales on 14 (52%), and Auckland, where 27 properties were also auctioned with sales achieved on eight (30%).

Prices started at $80,000 for a two bedroom plus study weatherboard house, built around 1910 at Wyndham in Southland (pictured), which fetched $80,000.

It came with 1970 square metres of land on two titles, with the house occupying one section and the adjacent section able to be developed.

The highest price at Harcourts auctions for the week was $1.7 million for a three bedroom villa at Mt Eden in Auckland.

The full results with photos and details of the properties and the prices achieved for the ones that sold, are available on our Residential Auction Results page.

Waiting for tothepoint/pointmade to come along and spin this as positive or quasi positive for the housing market.

interest.co.nz publishes the Wellington auction results here;

Saying that though, Wellington clearance rates have been abysmal.
