BusinessDesk: Court orders end Hubbard case

All charges against Allan Hubbard, the owner of collapsed South Canterbury Finance., have been dropped by order of the Timaru District Court, after his death following a car accident near Oamaru last Friday.
“All informations permanently stayed as the defendant is now deceased,” District Court Judge Joanna Maze ordered.
Hubbard, 83, a pillar of the community in Timaru, was facing 50 charges laid by the Serious Fraud Office after he and his 82 year-old wife, Jean, were placed under statutory management by the government.
They were to have appeared in court this week to appeal the move.
