Economic weather report: New Zealand dollar weakening vs Australian dollar
Watch on our video page here.
Watch on YouTube here. Bernard Hickey delivers an economic weather report in association with the BNZ on how the New Zealand dollar is weakening towards a 9 year low versus the Australian dollar because the Australian economy is growing faster with higher interest rates than the New Zealand economy and interest rates. This is great news for our manufacturing exporters and tourism operators, given Australia is our largest exporting destination and our biggest source of tourists.

Clearly proponents of a common
Clearly proponents of a common currency should be checking on how that is working in Europe and consider how New Zealand would be faring as the ugly sister in a similar relationship with Australia. Do we really want to be the pig of the south pacific?
Stuff that, I don't want
Stuff that,
I don't want to exchange my Kiwi dollars for a NZ/AUD currency. We are at a 10 year low so would lose heaps if we had to cash in our NZD to buy the new combined currency.
They should have done it when the NZ dollar was worth .92 cents AUD not that long ago.
I'm old enough to recall
I'm old enough to recall going to Oz in the 1980s when the rate was around 1NZD to AUD 0.57. Now that's a very expensive place at those rates.

Wally ....I have to say look at the skill-sawed punch bored and driven Kiwi go just like a little cork tethered to the pipers rod.

Have you been bad Phill..? is that it..? cause if you have then we all need to know...I don't know why that is but the news tells me I have to know..! Not to worry as Tiger's set a pretty high benchmark... so leaping on your sword may have been a little premature....... still live by the sword...la la
