Bernard - though I agree 100% with your premise I think you are peeing in the wind. Bollard will push through at least .75% of cuts before reality bites (mind you it will be nice to say I told you so).

Bernard, the truth of the matter is that you only have to have worked one hour of paid employment in the week that the quarterly household survey is held to be deemed to be employed, and of course a lot is dependent on the area surveyed, and how many and from which demographic are far more likely to choose not to participate. I know this from my questioning under the OIA.
A truer indication of employment distress is those suffering underemployment, those that have one or more jobs yet are still not able to reach a position of financial dignity or have any chance of buying their financial freedom. like many of those in Auckland living three families to a house as disclosed by the Big Cities report.

This is from NZ Stats website,I would like to hear from anyone who has ever been contacted for one of these things, as in my 15 years working in NZ I have not;
Household labour force statistics
The quarterly Household Labour Force Survey collects information relating to the employed, the unemployed and those not in the labour force who comprise New Zealand's working-age (15 years and over) population.
Details available include age, sex, ethnicity, occupation, employment status, educational qualification, and hours worked.
Data is collected in a large survey of households, with a questionnaire for each household and for each household member.
