Only one home in Auckland sold for less than $1m but plenty for less than that in other parts of the country at Bayleys' latest auctions

Bayleys has released the results of last week's property auctions in Auckland, Waikato, Bay of Plenty and Canterbury, with only one Auckland property selling for less than $1 million.

A highlight of the results from around the country was a holiday home in Akaroa (pictured at right) which sold under the hammer for $490,000.

Built circa 1960 and designed to accommodate two family groups at a time, it was described by the agents as "unpretentious but charming" and boasted sweeping views over Akaroa Harbour and village (see photo below).

Elsewhere, a 1960s three bedroom house on an 1191 square metre section in Cambridge sold at mortgagee auction for $350,000, an apartment in the upmarket Heritage Farmers building in Auckland's CBD fetched $231,000, and a character bungalow on Auckland's North Shore sold for $2.12 million.
