Character homes on large sections in New Plymouth would cost at least $1 million more in Auckland

New Plymouth was the place to be at Bayleys auctions last week, with a nicely refurbished 1920s-era bungalow (pictured) on a 1037 square metre section in the central city selling for for $355,000.

Another four bedroom family home on two levels with a pleasant bush outlook sold at the same auction for $349,500.

If the same property had been offered for sale in one of Auckland's inner city suburbs it would likely have had substantially more than $1 million added to its selling price.

Over in the Bay of Plenty a large family home on a 3.33 hectare lifestyle block at Omanawa about 29 minutes from Tauranga's CBD, sold for $790,000.

Up in Auckland a 1980s, three bedroom house on a 600 square metre section at Pakuranga sold for $590,000, a two bedroom upper level apartment in Albany went for $385,000 and a one bedroom upstairs unit in Devonport sold for $545,000.

See below for the full results from Bayleys auction rooms around the country last week, with photos of all properties including those that didn't sell:
