Just over a third of the auction properties found new owners at Bayleys' auctions in Auckland and Waikato, nearly two thirds sell in Christchurch

Bayleys sold 36% of the homes at its latest Auckland and Waikato weekly auctions and 61% of the homes at its Christchurch auctions.

Out of the total of 59 auction properties in Auckland and Waikato, 21 were sold and 38 were either passed in, withdrawn from sale or postponed.

Of the 18 auction properties in Christchurch, 11 were sold and seven were passed in, withdrawn or postponed.

Highlights of the Auckland sales included a three bedroom house in Remuera that sold for $865,000, a three bedroom house in Ellerslie that went for $715,000, a lakefront house in Takapuna that fetched $1.55 million and a four bedroom house in Titirangi that went for $760,000.

In the Waikato sales were achieved on several lifestyle properties and a three bedroom house at Chartwell fetched $497,500 but there were no takers for several blocks in a new lifestyle subdivision at Gordonton.

Time to sit back and watch the market for a while.Prices might not come back like some will hope but there will be more choice for those that are patient and an eye for future gains.

Wow as I had heard Hamilton is coming off the boil like Auckland. Those who bought at the top will not enjoy hearing about their revaluations downwards.

Hi Gordon.The only place in Hamilton that didn't do well was central,it went up 2.6%.Melvile wnt up nearly 50% and i think the average increase for the city was close to 26%.That's over 3 years i think so no where near as impresive as Auckland.Only last year though prices we're below 2007 peaks.
