Record day at interest.co.nz
September 11, 2008 was a record day at interest.co.nz. The 50 basis point cut in the OCR and related reactions; news of Strategic Finance not making interest payments; and of Dominion Finance to fight receivership meant that the move to a bigger server on August 20 by interest.co.nz well and truly paid off. The last time the site saw Thursday's volume of traffic was the Hanover collapse/OCR announcement on July 23/24. At the time, the site crashed due to the sharp increase in traffic. However, there were no problems on Thursday, with the new server capacity handling the volume very capably.
