Bayleys sells 59% at Auckland auctions. Houses flying out the door at Matamata auction

Bayleys achieved a 59% sales rate at its Auckland auctions in the last week, with 20 of the 34 properties put on the block finding new owners and 14 being passed in for sale by negotiation.

The cheapest sale was a two bedroom apartment located just off Karangahape Rd in Howe St that sold for $351,000, while a three bedroom home unit in Mangere Bridge went for $630,000.

The most expensive sale achieved at Bayleys' latest auctions was a four bedroom house next to Alberon Reserve in Parnell that went for $5.7 million.

At Bayleys' Hamilton auction four rural properties were offered with a four bedroom house on a 4.3 hectare lifestyle block selling for $1.15 million, while the houses were flying out the door at the Matamata auction, with sales achieved on five of the six properties auctioned and prices ranging from $351,000 to $680,000.

It would be interesting to know how many houses sold on the day at the auction. Passed in houses often sell to the highest bidder after the floor auction but with the same conditions as if they had sold under the hammer. To all intents and purposes this would still be a sold at auction result. Of course these results could include those.
They say it is sale by negotiation but it is not really as it seems you cannot negotiate the conditions. I was quite surprised about this when I found it out. I guess you could play hard ball and simply say you will make an offer with conditions later in the week.
