MARKET REPORT CHRISTCHURCH WOOL SALE 2ND FEBRUARY

At Christchurch approx 6,700 bales. The offering was made up of approx – 40% Xbd Fleece. 25% Xbd 2^nd Shear. 15% Xbd 1^st Lambs. Balance various Oddments and misc. The market compared to last weeks South Island sale 26 January 2012 – Xbd Fleece BB/B and B style 1 to 2% cheaper, B/C 3 to 5% cheaper. Xbd 2^nd Shear BB/B style 3 to 5% cheaper. Xbd Bulky Oddments 5% cheaper. Xbd 2^nd Shear Oddments 6 to 8% cheaper. Xbd 1^st Lambs generally unchanged.

The NZ dollar today compared to last weeks sales 26 January 2012 via USD 0.8350 up 3.2%, via Euro 0.6320 up 1.9%, via Sterling 0.5260 up 1.4%.

Next week we have two wool sales on Thursday 9 February 2012.  At Napier approx 10,900 bales and at Christchurch approx 8,900 bales.

MARKET REPORT NAPIER WOOL SALE 2ND FEBRUARY

At Napier 10,000 bales. The offering was made up of – 35% Xbd Fleece. 20% Xbd 2^nd Shear. 30% Xbd 1^st Lambs. Balance various Oddments and misc.The market compared to last weeks North Island sale 26 January 2012 – Xbd Fleece BB/B very nominal unchanged, B style 1% cheaper, B Minus and B/C 2 to 3% cheaper, C style 4% cheaper. Xbd 2^nd Shear BB/B 3/4 inch and longer very nominally 2% cheaper, 2/3 and 2/4 nominally 3 to 5% cheaper, B to B/C style all lengths generally 2 to 3% cheaper with exception B Minus and B/C style 2/3 and 2/4 inch 4% cheaper. Xbd Bulky Oddments Inferior colour 10% cheaper. 2^nd Shear Oddments unchanged. Xbd 1^st Lambs 27.5mic and finer 2% dearer, 28mic and coarser 2/3 inch and shorter 1% cheaper, 3 inch 29 to 30mic 2% dearer, 30.5mic and coarser unchanged. 2^nd Lambs 1 to 2% dearer. Passings 24%.
