MARKET REPORT CHRISTCHURCH WOOL SALE 23RD OCTOBER  2014

At Christchurch 9,113 bales on offer.

NZ Wool Services International wool report.

At today's South Island wool sale prices stabilised. On the back of a weaker NZ dollar crossbred wool prices overall took this into account when compared to napier on the 16th October. 7000 bales sold with 23% passed in.
While some business has been concluded in China it has been generally at the finer micron range 31 to 34 micron.

When compared to the SI sale on the 9th October

Merino Fleece 17 to 18.5 mic was 1-2.5% cheaper, 19.5-20 mic 6.5% cheaper, 20-22.5 1-2% dearer.
Mid micron wools 24-24.5 were 2.5% dearer, 25-27.5  3% cheaper  29-30mic firm.

Compared to the NI sale 16th October
Fine Crossbred 34-36 mic was 1% dearer
Fine crossbred early shorn and second shear 31-36 mic 3 to 5 inch was 2- 2.5% dearer. 31-32 mic 3 to 4 inch was 1% cheaper, while 32 to 36 mic 3 to 4 inch was 2-2.5% dearer

Coarse crossbred early shorn and second shear were 2% dearer.

Next sale on the 30th October comprises 6,100 bales from the North Island

MARKET REPORT NAPIER WOOL SALE 30TH OCTOBER 2014

At Napier 6,107 bales.

The offering was made up of – 5% Xbd Fleece. 65% Xbd Hgt Fleece/Early Shorn. 10% Xbd 2nd Shear. 4% Xbd Hgt 2nd Shear. Balance various Oddments/misc.

The market compared to the last North Island sale 16th October 2014 –

Xbd Hgt Fleece and Early Shorn 3/5 inch 35 micron and finer Par to 1% dearer. 35.5 micron and coarser unchanged.

Xbd Hgt Early Shorn 3/4 inch 1 to 2% dearer.

Xbd Hgt 2nd Shear 2/3 and 2/4 inches nominally 2 to 3% dearer.

Xbd Fleece all styles very nominal BB/B and B style unchanged. B Minus and B/C 1 to 2% dearer.

Xbd 2nd Shear all styles 3/4 and 3/5 inch unchanged. 2/4 inch 1% dearer. 2/3 inch 3% dearer.

Xbd Bulky Oddments up to 5% dearer.

Xbd 2nd Shear Oddments unchanged.

Passings EPW 14%, overall 9%.

The NZ dollar today compared to the last North Island sale 16th October 2014 via USD 0.7870 down 0.9%, via Euro 0.6205 down 0.2%, via Sterling 0.4900 down 1.9%.

Next week we have one wool sale on Thursday 6th November 2014 at Christchurch with approx. 5,000 bales.
