MARKET REPORT NEW ZEALAND WOOL SALE 13TH JULY 2017

At Christchurch 6,443 bales. The offering was made up of approx. –  50% Xbd Fleece, 19% Xbd 2nd Shear and early shorn, 6% 1st lambs, 7% Halfbred fleece, balance  2nd Shear Odds, XBD bulky oddments and misc.

The market compared to the last South Island sale 29-June-2017 

XBD Fleece BB and BB / B style 1.5% cheaper, B to B/C Style par to 2% dearer.

XBD 2nd shear and early shorn BB and BB/B Style 3/5 inch unchanged, 3/4 inch 8% cheaper, 2/4 inch 3% dearer, 2/3 inch 5% dearer.

1st Lambs  Nominally par to 4 % dearer

Halfbred fleece  26 mic nominally 2% dearer, 26.5 mic and coarser nominally par to 3% cheaper.

XBD bulky oddments par to 4% dearer

XBD 2nd shear Oddments unchanged

Passings 23%

Inquiry for pre lamb crossbred fleece continues to be of concern. The market continues to be hesitant with business still very patchy and limited volumes being traded.

The high percentage of wool withdrawn  before the sale increased the overall passed in figure of 23%.

The NZ dollar today compared to the last  South Island sale 29-June 2017, USD 0.7260 down 0.7%, Euro 0.6360 down 1.0%, Sterling 0.5635 down  0.3%, AUS 0.9455 down 1.2%

Next week we have a wool sale on Thursday 20 July 2017 at  Napier  with approximately 9,165  bales.

At Napier 9,354 bales. The offering was made up of – 4% Xbd Fleece, 54% Xbd 2nd Shear and Early Shorn, 6% 1st Lambs, 15% 2nd Shear Hgt, balance 2nd shear oddments, bulky oddments and misc.

The market compared to the last North Island sale on the 6-July-17

XBD Fleece  B Style and better Nominally 3% dearer, B Minus Nominally 1% cheaper, B/C style Nominally 5% cheaper

Xbd 2nd Shear and Early Shorn BB/B and B style 3/4 inch and 3/5 inch 3 to 4% cheaper, BB/B style 2/3 and 2/4 inch 1% cheaper, B and B Minus style all lengths par to 2% cheaper, B/C style all lengths par to 3% cheaper

1st Lambs Nominally  unchanged

XBD 2nd shear Hogget 32.5 Micron and finer unchanged, 33 micron and coarser 2 to 4% cheaper

2nd shear oddments par to 2% dearer

Passings  CPW 10% Overall 18%

The NZ dollar today compared to the last  North Island sale  6-July- 2017, USD 0.7355 up  1.2%, Euro 0.6390 down 0.4%, Sterling 0.5650 up 0.4%, AUS 0.9245 down 3.5%

In general prices at todays sale stabilised on the better previous North Island sale. Competition was better spread.

Passings were at their lowest level for some time. Overall market signals are a little more positive.

The next sale is on Thursday 27-July 2017 at Christchurch 6,659 bales.
