MARKET REPORT NEW ZEALAND WOOL SALE  1ST DECEMBER 2016

At Christchurch 4,863 bales. The offering was made up of approx. –  26% Xbd Fleece , 5% Xbd 2nd Shear and early shorn, 37% XBD Hgt Fleece and early shorn, 8% Mid micron Fleece, 2% Merino, balance 2nd shear Odds, XBD bulky oddments and misc.

The market compared to the last South Island sale 17- November- 2016 –

Xbred fleece 8% cheaper

Xbred 2nd shear and early shorn 3/4 inch and 3/5 inch  4-5% cheaper, 2/4 inch unchanged, 2/3 inch 2% cheaper 

Merino Fleece Nominally 3-4% dearer

Mid micron Fleece Nominally par to 3% dearer

XBD Hgt fleece and Early Shorn - Hgt Fleece 8% cheaper, Hgt fleece early shorn 3-5% cheaper

All oddments generally unchanged

Passings 20%

Todays sale prices eased over most types. Compared to the last Christchurch sale most crossbred types were 5% cheaper. Business subdued from most countries. China is still not buying XBD hogget which they traditionally bought in large quantities. Merino prices were the highlight with levels lifting on the back of strong sales in Australia recently.

The NZ Dollar today compared with the last sale 24-November USD 0.7085 up 0.1%, Euro 0.6680 up 0.9%, Sterling 0.5670 down 0.3% and the Aus 0.9585 up 1.4%

Next week we have a wool sale on Thursday 8 December 2016 at  Napier  with 9,179 bales

MARKET REPORT NAPIER WOOL SALE 24TH NOVEMBER 2016

At Napier 7,354 bales. The offering was made up of – 15% Xbd Fleece, 27% Xbd 2nd Shear and Early Shorn,  8% XBD 2nd shear Hgt, 31% XBD Hogget Fleece and early shorn, balance 2nd Shear oddments and misc.

The market compared to the last North Island sale on the 10-November 2016

Xbd Fleece  BB/B style 2.5% cheaper, B & B Minus style 10% cheaper, B/C style 15% cheaper

Xbd 2nd Shear and Early Shorn  BB/B style 2/3 inch to 3/4 inch par to 2% cheaper, BB/B style 3/5 inch 6% cheaper, B style 3/4 and 3/5 inch 6-8% cheaper, B style 2/4 and 2/3 inch 3-4% cheaper, B minus and B/C style 7-10% cheaper.

XBD 2nd Shear Hgt   Nominally 1-2% dearer.

XBD Hgt Fleece and early shorn 32.5 mic and finer 2% cheaper, 33-36micron 3-5% cheaper

XBD Bulky oddments  10-15%% cheaper, Xbd 2nd shear oddments 10-15% cheaper

Passings  CPW 24% Overall 30%

The NZ dollar today compared to last  North Island sale  10-November 2016, USD 0.7010 down  3.8%, Euro 0.6640 down  4.0%, Sterling 0.5625 down 3.8%, AUS 0.9490 down 0.4%

China has continued to remain almost non active. As a result prices continue to drop at this weeks sale.

If this situation continues for the next few months with increasing quantities on offer, it will be a concern.

Next sale is on Thursday 1-December 2016 at Christchurch with 4,534 bales.
