MARKET REPORT CHRISTCHURCH WOOL SALE 20TH NOVEMBER  2014

At Christchurch approx. 7,100 bales.

The offering was made up of approx. – 5% Merino Fleece. 35% Halfbred Fleece. 35% Xbd Fleece. 5% Xbd 2nd Shear. Balance various Oddments and misc.

The market compared to the last South Island sale 6th November 2014 –

Merino Fleece unchanged.

Halfbred Fleece 25 micron and finer generally unchanged. 26 micron and coarser generally 1% dearer.

Xbd Hgt Fleece and Early Shorn 3/5 inches 32 micron and finer unchanged. 33 to 37 micron 5 to 6% cheaper.

Xbd Fleece all styles 4 to 5% cheaper.

Xbd 2nd Shear 3/4 and 3/5 inches nominally 5% cheaper. 2/3 and 2/4 inches nominally Par to 2% cheaper.

Xbd Bulky Oddments 4% cheaper.

Xbd 2nd Shear Oddments Good/Ave colour unchanged. Ave/Poor Par to 3% cheaper.

Compared to last weeks North Island sale Xbd Hgt Fleece and Early Shorn and Xbd Fleece were 2 to 3% dearer.

Xbd 2nd Shear 3/4 and 3/5 unchanged. 2/3 and 2/4 1 to 2% dearer.

Passings approx. 25%.

The NZ dollar today compared to the last South Island sale 6th November 2014 via USD 0.7865 up 1.9%, via Euro 0.6260 up 1.2%, via Sterling 0.5010 up 3.7%.

Next week we have one wool sale on Thursday 27th November 2014 at Napier with approx. 5,900 bales.

At Napier 5,919 bales.

The offering was made up of – 11% Xbd Fleece, 18% Xbd 2nd Shear, 43% Xbd Hgt Fleece and Early Shorn, 7% Xbd Hgt 2nd Shear. Balance various Oddments and misc.

The market compared to the last North Island sale 30th October 2014 –

Xbd Hgt Fleece and Early Shorn 3/4 and 3/5 inch 31.5 micron and finer 3% dearer. 32 micron generally unchanged.

32.5 to 33 micron 1 to 2% cheaper. 33.5 to 37 micron 3 to 4% cheaper.

Xbd 2nd Shear Hgt 2/3 and 2/4 inch 32 micron and finer unchanged. 33 micron and coarser 2% cheaper.

Xbd Fleece all styles 4 to 5% cheaper.

Xbd 2nd Shear 3/4 and 3/5 inch all styles 4% cheaper.  2/4 inch all styles 1 to 2% cheaper. 2/3 inch Par to 1% cheaper.

Xbd Bulky Oddments 6 to 8% cheaper.

Xbd 2nd Shear Oddments 2 to 4% cheaper.

Passings EPW 17%, overall 17%.

The NZ dollar today compared to the last North Island sale 30th October 2014 via USD 0.7880 up 0.1%, via Euro 0.6340 up 2.2%, via Sterling 0.4990 up 1.8%.

Next week we have one wool sale on Thursday 20th November 2014 at Christchurch with approx. 7,110 bales.
