The Opening Bell: Where currencies start for Friday, October 11, 2013

By Dan Bell

The NZD/USD opens around 0.8280 this morning after trading an interbank range between 0.8230 and 0.8310 over the last 24 hours.

Global stocks rallied overnight with the Dow Jones and S&P 500 Index up 2% on rumours the US debt ceiling will be raised until late November to give US policy makers more time to negotiate a longer term deal.

We will know more details about this over the next few hours but for now markets have reacted very positively.

The NZD opens at current indicative levels: 0.8759 AUD, 0.6127 EUR, 81.40 JPY, 0.5188 GBP, 0.8616 CAD.

From NZ today we get Food Price Index at 10:45. Tonight US Consumer Sentiment will be of interest.
