The Opening Bell: Where currencies start on Friday, March 27, 2015

The NZDUSD opens at 0.7570 this morning.

The NZD traded as high as 0.7660 overnight before a stronger USD saw the Kiwi open at similar levels to where we left it yesterday.

Global equity markets were again sluggish and oil jumped higher on reports of Saudi led strikes targeting Yemen rebels.

US Jobless Claims over night were slightly better than expected with any weekend movement most likely to come from further Fed speak out of the U.S.

Global equity markets mainly down on the day – Dow 0.0%, Nikkei -1.4%, Hang Seng -0.2% FTSE-1.4%, DAX -0.2%.

Gold prices currently -0.2% at USD$1,201. Oil sitting up 4.5% at $41.42.

NZDEUR           0.6960
NZDGBP           0.5100
NZDJPY               90.25
NZDAUD           0.9680
NZDCAD           0.9450

Fed Chair Yellen Speaks - 8:45am Sat
