This data is from the Reserve Bank's E3 series that monitors our overseas debt quarterly, and it has done since March 1993. It sources the data from Statistics NZ.

The Corporate Debt component is more than just the private sector; it includes the overseas liabilities of the private sector, SOEs (state-owned enterprises) and local government organisations.

The Public Debt component includes the "official government sector" including The Treasury, the Reserve Bank of New Zealand, and all government departments, but not SOEs or local government.
