1. We may find out this week whether the economy is out of recession. We'll get June quarter GDP figures on Wednesday which most expect to show a 0.1% fall, but some are forecasting a slight rise. The RBNZ should be putting up the OCR from its record low of 2.5%. 2. Fonterra announced its proposal for a capital structure reform on Friday. It will likely help Fonterra raise up to NZ$900 mln in fresh capital, but almost all of that will be fresh debt for farmers. I think it will get through, but there's still many unanswered questions. How will any share trading system work? 3. Don Brash's 2025 Taskforce will look at whether NZ should adopt an Australian dollar.
