Kiwibank PIE funds and Public Trust interest get government guarantee (corrected)

Kiwibank's PIE online call fund and PIE term deposit fund have been accepted into the government deposit guarantee scheme by Treasury. (Corrected to make clear Public Trust's guarantee is a direct one with the government, rather than under the deposit guarantee scheme). Public Trust also announced that interest on its term deposits and call accounts was now covered by the guarantee scheme until October 12, 2010, the same day as when the government guarantee expires, under section 65ZD of the Public Finance Act 1989. Principal held in the accounts was already guaranteed under section 52 of the Public Trust Act 2001. Here is a link to Treasury's retail deposit guarantee page.
