"Mercury NZ Limited is a New Zealand electricity generation and electricity retailing company. All of the company's electricity generation is renewable. It owns and operates nine hydroelectric generating stations on the Waikato River and five geothermal plants in the Taupo area"

CEO profile

Vince Hawksworth is the CEO of Mercury NZ Limited and was appointed in March 2020. Hawksworth previously held roles as CEO for Trust Power, and Hydro Tasmania for 13 years prior. Hawksworth has an Executive MBA Master's degree from the University of Waikato and is a fellow of the Institution of Engineers Australia. Hawksworth started his career in the energy sector, where he was based in Huntly, at the Power Station. Formerly also a leader in the demerger of Tilt Renewables from Trustpower and later oversaw the acquisition of Tilt's New Zealand assets by Mercury.


Chairman Profile

Prue Flacks was appointed a directory of Mercury in May 2010 and became chair of the board in September 2019. Previously, she was a commercial lawyer and partner at Russell McVeagh for 20 years. Flacks is currently a director of BNZ and a chair of Queenstown Airport Corporation. Flacks is a chartered member of the Institute of Directors. Flack's main expertise is in corporate and regulatory matters, corporate finance, capital markets, and business restructuring. Flacks is a chartered member of the Institute of Directors, a former Director of Chorus Limited, Bank of New Zealand, and Chair of Queenstown Airport.
