Description of trading activities

Vulcan Steel Ltd was founded in 1995 by Peter Wells. Wells's primary aim was to create a customer-focused and efficient metals-based distributor for Australasia. The initial stages of Vulcan Steel saw a large distribution of carbon steel which then included plate, coil, and steel processing. Now Vulcan Steel has grown to become a key supplier to the Australasian economy. Including 72 warehouses, manufacturing, and facilities throughout Australia and New Zealand.

CEO profile

Rhys Jones joined the Board of Vulcan Steel in 2006, and currently holds the position of Chief Executive Officer, and Managing Director. Previously Jones was involved in the Steel industry, including being the executive of EasySteel NZ, and the CEO of Pacific Steel and Wire Makers. Jones was also formerly the COO of Carter Holt, Harvey's Pulp, Paper and Packaging, and new ventures division at the time of the Rank Group takeover.
