MARKET REPORT NEW ZEALAND WOOL SALE 16TH NOVEMBER 2017

At Christchurch 7,597 bales. The offering was made up of approx. – 21% Xbd Fleece, 5% Xbd 2nd Shear and early shorn, 24% Hgt fleece and early shorn, 5% 1st lambs, 15% Halfbred fleece, 7% Merino Fleece, balance  2nd Shear Odds, XBD bulky oddments and misc.

The market compared to the last South Island sale 26-October-2017 

XBD Fleece 8-12% dearer

XBD 2nd shear and early shorn Nominally 6-8% dearer 

XBD Hgt Fleece and Early shorn   7-12% dearer

1st Lambs Very nominally 7-10% dearer

Merino fleece 2-5% dearer

Halfbred fleece  2-10% dearer

XBD bulky oddments 7.5% dearer

XBD 2nd shear Oddments  7.5% dearer

Passings CPW 5.6% overall 8%

Thursdays wool sale held at the Christchurch Show saw prices lift across all micron categories.

Merino wool saw prices continue to lift on the back of increased demand from China and good increases in the Australian market. A small offering of mid micron types also met with strong competition.

Cross bred types saw significant increases across all categories.

The NZ dollar today compared to the last  South Island sale 26-Oct- 2017, USD 0.6870 down 0.1%, Euro 0.5825 up 0.1%, Sterling 0.5220 up 0.7%, AUS 0.9065 up 1.5%

Next week we have a wool sale on Thursday 23-November 2017 at  Napier  with approximately 9,711 bales.

MARKET REPORT NAPIER WOOL SALE 9TH NOVEMBER 2017

At Napier 9,772 bales. The offering was made up of – 7% Xbd Fleece, 22% Xbd 2nd Shear and Early Shorn, 32% Xbd Hog Fleece and early shorn, 6% 1st Lambs, 13% 2nd Shear Hgt, balance 2nd shear oddments, bulky oddments and misc.

The market compared to the last North Island sale on the 19-October-17

XBD Fleece  BB/B style Nominally were 10% dearer, B and B minus style nominally 7.5% dearer, B/C style 5% dearer.

Xbd 2nd Shear and Early Shorn All Styles and lengths 8 to 10% dearer.  

XBD Hgt Fleece and Early Shorn  10 to 15% dearer

1st Lambs  Very Nominally  5 to 7% dearer

XBD 2nd shear Hogget  10 to 15% dearer

2nd shear oddments  3 to 5% dearer

XBD bulky oddments  12.5% dearer

Passings  CPW 7% Overall 6%

The NZ dollar today compared to the last  North Island sale  19-Oct- 2017, USD 0.6920 down 3.1%, Euro 0.5970 down 1.5%, Sterling 0.5280 down 2.6%, AUS 0.9015 down 1.0%

With Chinese buyers becoming more active during the past 2-3 weeks, and with the UK and European markets remaining reasonably active, prices at todays sale were considerably stronger for most types compared to the last North Island sale. A weaker NZ dollar also assisted the market.

The next sale is on Thursday16-November 2017 at Christchurch 7,597 bales.
