Unfortunately the only negative was the half bred types 25 to 30 micron which was extremely erratic.

Merino prices were very solid considering the correction in the Australian market this week, with strong interest from Italy.

The NZ dollar today compared to the last  South Island sale 31-August- 2017, USD 0.7230 up 0.4%, Euro 0.6085 up 0.5%, Sterling 0.5480 down 1.6%, AUS 0.9060 down 0.5%

Next week we have a wool sale on Thursday 21-September 2017 at  Napier  with approximately 10,586  bales.

A number of NZ exporters visiting China over the past week found Chinese buyers not prepared to pay current market values for hogget wools.

This certainly affected the market at todays sale for those types. The NZ dollar trading a full 2% higher than the US currency, did not help.

The next sale is on Thursday 28-September 2017 at Christchurch 12,979 bales.
