Westpac aiming to be world's best digital bank after CEO found 'digital offering not up to standard' on his arrival

Westpac wants to be the best digital bank in New Zealand but isn't stopping there with its digital ambitions. CEO Peter Clare says Westpac also wants to be the best digital bank in the world.

Clare told a media briefing on Westpac's annual results yesterday the aspiration of being the "best digital bank" was within Westpac's reach. In an interview after the briefing interest.co.nz asked Clare whether this meant Westpac didn't currently consider itself New Zealand's best digital bank.

Clare said when he took the helm from George Frazis in March-April last year he didn't believe Westpac's digital offering was up to standard.
