WHAT THE NZX 50 INDEX IS DOING
The NZX50 is trading up +0.4% today, though it remains down -0.6% month-on-month. On an annual basis, the index has gained a solid +5.7% year-on-year.
THE MAIN GAINERS
To start the new week, 42 stocks posted gains, with Vital Healthcare Property (VHP, #24) leading the NZX50, up sharply by +7%. Vital Healthcare's share price has risen +4% over the past six months and +11% year-on-year. Stride Property Group (SPG, #37) added +1%, up +24% over six months and +8% annually. Spark (SPK, #12) also rose +1%, though it remains down -23% over six months and -21% year-on-year. Infratil (IFT, #4) advanced +1%, gaining +16% over six months but easing -4% compared to a year ago.

THE MAIN DECLINERS
On the decliners side, 39 stocks fell, though losses were mostly minor. Kathmandu Brands (KMD, #50) and Sky Network Television (SKT, #47) each declined -2%. Kathmandu is down -11% over six months and -31% year-on-year, while Sky has gained +23% over six months and a strong +41% annually. Scales Corporation (SCL, #35) and Serko (SKO, #49) both eased -1%. Scales remains up +34% over six months and +53% year-on-year, while Serko is down -3% over six months and -28% annually.

KEY ANNOUNCEMENTS
Serko Limited (SKO, #49) has issued 315,557 Restricted Share Units (RSUs) under its Long Term Incentive Scheme at a grant value of NZ$2.5787 per unit, representing 0.253% of its 124.9 million ordinary shares on issue. The RSUs, which vest between 2025 and 2028 subject to employment and performance conditions, bring total RSUs outstanding to 5.6 million (around 4.5% of shares if fully vested), and were authorised by the Board to support employee retention and alignment with shareholder interests.
Meridian Energy Limited (MEL, #2) has confirmed the acquisition of 150,000 ordinary shares as part of its FY26 equity plans buyback announced on the 1st of December, in accordance with NZX Listing Rule 3.13.1.
KMD Brands Limited (KMD, #50) has announced the lapse of 2,317,002 performance rights, comprising 1,340,454 issued on the 20th of December 2022, 73,391 issued on the 19th of December 2023, and 903,157 issued on the 12th of December 2024.
