Here are the key changes to know about in the New Zealand equity market; Ryman, Kathmandu, SkyTV, and Chorus lead Friday’s gainers as Gentrack, Fletchers, Scales, and AirNZ top a heavy wave of decliners

Here are the key things you need to know about in the NZX markets over the past 24 hours. Changes are as at 3:00 pm and may change when the market closes at 4:45 pm.

WHAT THE NZX 50 INDEX IS DOING
The NZX50 remains under pressure for the last day of the trading week, currently down -0.1%, extending its five-day decline to -0.3%. Despite gaining +1.3% over the last month and +7.1% year-on-year, weakness across the broader board continues to load, with 63 decliners significantly outnumbering 32 gainers.

THE MAIN GAINERS
Ryman Healthcare (RYM, #18) led the gainers, rising +3% and extending its strong five-day performance to +13%. While Ryman remains down -20% over the last six months, it has recovered +3% year-on-year. KMD Brands (KMD, #50) followed with a +2% lift, despite remaining under heavy longer-term pressure, down -48% over the last month, -66% over six months, and -70% year-on-year. Sky Network (SKT, #46) gained +1%, up +4% over both the last five days and month, while maintaining a strong +33% annual gain. Chorus (CNU, #12) also lifted +1%, supported by +3% month-on-month growth, +6% over six months, and a solid +25% year-on-year rise.

THE MAIN DECLINERS
On the downside, Gentrack (GTK, #39) led the decliners, slipping -7%, with its broader weakness remaining significant at -14% over the month, -34% over six months, and -46% year-on-year. Fletcher Building (FBU, #14) declined -2%, extending its recent weakness to -6% over five days and -13% over the month, leaving the stock down -11% annually. Scales Corporation (SCL, #33) also dropped -2%, though it remains up +40% year-on-year despite softer recent momentum. Air New Zealand (AIR, #22) eased -1%, with the airline still under pressure, down -27% over six months and -23% year-on-year, despite a modest +2% monthly gain.

KEY ANNOUNCEMENTS
Ryman Healthcare (RYM, #18) has appointed Hamish Rumbold as an independent non-executive director, effective on the 1st of May, completing what Chair Dean Hamilton described as the Board’s refresh. Rumbold brings extensive experience across customer experience, digital transformation, data, and technology, with current directorships at House of Travel, Orbit Remit, LIC, and The Warehouse Group. He previously served as Chief Digital and Technology Officer at Kiwibank and held senior leadership roles at Air New Zealand, including GM Customer Value and Group GM Digital Customer Products.

Goodman Property Trust (GMT, #15) has confirmed that its financial results for the year ended 31 March will be released on the 26th of May.

Napier Port Holdings (NPH, #37) has confirmed it will release its financial results for the half year ended 31 March on the morning of Wednesday, the 20th of May.
