BNZ removes fees for making deposits into personal accounts

BNZ has announced it will remove fees for depositing money into personal accounts through internet banking, electronic banking, ATMs, telephone banking and through staff assisted transactions. The move follows a number of complaints from frustrated BNZ customers and will affect approximately 120,000 account holders, BNZ said. The changes will be effective from February 1. Less than six months after dropping honour and dishonour fees, BNZ has announced that it will be removing fees for depositing money into personal accounts through Internet banking, electronic banking, ATMs, telephone banking and through staff assisted transactions. All changes will be effective from 1 February 2010. My Money and TotalMoney which account for the majority of BNZ's personal accounts do not charge customers for these transactions. However, today's announcement will bring into line personal accounts such as Ready Money, Rapid Repay, Flexi Money, Graduate and Personal Call "“ affecting approximately 120,000 account holders. Monique Cairns, Head of Retail Sales Development, at BNZ says: "Customers have told us that being charged fees to deposit their money is one of their greatest frustrations. "We are focused on providing ways to make it easier for customers to achieve their goals. Therefore, we will continue to review our fees and talk with our customers about how we can improve our service on an ongoing basis," continues Cairns. Fees for deposits of foreign currency and telegraphic transfers into personal accounts will still apply.
