Auckland apartment prices ranged from $320,000 - $476,000; Commercial properties from $1m to $3.125m

It was cold outside but the bidding was hot at this week's apartment auction at City Sales' rooms in Auckland.

Four apartments were on offer, two of which could have appealed to owner-occupiers but investors showed interest in all of them and they all attracted competitive bidding.

Three sold under the hammer and the one that was passed in sold later in the day.

Colliers International's latest commercial property sales ranged from a self storage facility in Nelson that sold for $3.125 million to a vacant commercial premises in Palmerston North that fetched $1 million.

Recent commercial property sales by Colliers International:

  • 227 Featherstone St, Palmerston North. A 630 square metre retail premises. Vacant. Sold for $1.436 million. The agents were Grant Lloyd, Phil Nevill and Doug Russell.
  • 180 Church St, Palmerston North. A 1400 square metre commercial building on a 2200 square metre site. Sold for $1.46 million providing a yield of 8.22%. The agents were Grant Lloyd, Doug Russell and Phil Nevill.
  • 60 Bourke St, Palmerston North. A Vacant 1000 square metre commercial premises on a 3640 square metre site. Sold for $1 million. The agents were Grant Lloyd Phil Nevill and Doug Russell.
  • 12 Kawakawa Place, Westgate, West Auckland. A 3362 square metre development site. Sold for $1.4 million. The agents were Craig Smith, Sean Finnegan and Dhiru Patel.
  • 9-17 Green St, Tahunanui, Nelson. A 2592 self storage facility on a 6682 square metre site. Sold for $3.125 million. The agent was Geoff Faulkner.

Results of apartment auction by City Sales on May 18:

  • 608/430 Queen St. The Volt building. A 40 square metre, two bedroom, furnished unit with a balcony. Rented at $480 a week. Sold for $380,000. Rates were $1138 and the body corporate levy $4081. The agent was Tony Kelly.
  • 109/43 Virginia Ave East, Eden Terrace. A 55 square metre, two bedroom unit with a balcony and car park. Vacant. Passed in at $450,000 (subsequently sold post auction). The agents were Lucy Piatov and Chris Bell.
  • 1C/11 Charlotte St, Eden Terrace. Memphis building. A 60 square metre terrace house with two bedrooms, two bathrooms and two car parks. Vacant. Sold for $476,000.Rates were $1376 and the body corporate levy $4485. The agent was Corrinne Rawlinson.
  • 320/149 Nelson St. Ascent building. A 53 square metre, two bedroom unit with a balcony, in a building undergoing remediation work. Vacant. Sold for $320,000. Rates were $1014 and the body corporate levy $2700. The agents were Lucy Piatov and Chris Bell.

Another one for those interested, 6 Rangipawa Road in One Tree Hill sold for 1085000/- recently. A whopping close to 60% over GV.

That is interesting as it fairly basic with barely three bedrooms, no garage, half section and a shared driveway and very close to Onehunga. It is actually in a suburb called Oranga although that name is hardly used now.
