Leader David Seymour says ACT's list a 'true representation of NZ society', with three new candidates ahead of sitting MPs

The ACT Party has released its election line-up, with new candidates Paul Henry taking fourth position on the list, James Christmas at number seven and Iain Murray at 11, ahead of sitting MPs. 

Leader David Seymour said the list was a "true representation of New Zealand society." 

"There are tradies, engineers, farmers, small business owners, hunters, legal experts, health professionals, school principals and more. Our candidates come from many different backgrounds and professions, but they share a common belief in this country and a determination to make it better."

Seymour described Henry as a "beloved broadcaster and national treasure" who wants a better future for his grandchildren. He said James Christmas is "one of the best legal minds I’ve met" and a dedicated champion for Tāmaki, Iain Murray is an experienced school principal "who knows how bureaucracy can get in the way of education," while he said Antonia Modkova is an intellectual property lawyer with expertise in the growing area of AI.

Seymour said the three areas ACT would be campaigning on this election would be "ending government waste so we can grow the country... cutting red tape and deleting stupid rules so Kiwis can build their businesses and livelihoods. And three, ensuring one law for all and one future together."

Christmas was considered an up and coming potential MP for National, running unsuccessfully in 2023, but is now running in outgoing MP Brooke van Velden's seat of Tāmaki. Henry was announced as an ACT candidate in July.
