The NZX50 starts the week flat. The index is up +0.4% over the last five days and up +2.1% for the month. Over the past six months, it declined -4.0%, though still holds a year-on-year gain of +6.7%.
THE MAIN GAINERS
There are 43 gainers in the market today. Heartland Group (HGH, #34) leads the upside, lifting +4% today. Despite a -19% slide over the last six months, Heartland is down just -18% year-on-year. Ryman Healthcare (RYM, #18) gained +2%, up +10% for the month, though still down -48% over six months and -31% over the year. Scales Corporation (SCL, #37) rose +2%, also up +10% for the month and +19% over six months. SCL has gained a strong +38% from this time last year. Kathmandu Brands (KMD, #50) also added +2%, though still sits -5% for the month and has fallen -39% over six months, down -24% year-on-year.

THE MAIN DECLINERS
Among the 33 decliners, Fletcher Building (FBU, #14) fell -3%, now down -6% for the month and -9% over six months. Mercury Energy (MCY, #5) dropped -2% today, despite gaining +6% over the month. Year-on-year Mercury is down -11%. Summerset Holdings (SUM, #16) also slipped -1%, though remains +1% for the month. Infratil (IFT, #4) dipped -1% today, despite a monthly gain of +2% and +3% over six months.

KEY ANNOUNCEMENTS
Contact Energy (CEN, #7) has announced the appointment of Deion Campbell as a non-independent director, effective upon implementation of the scheme of arrangement to acquire Manawa Energy. Campbell, currently Chair and director of Manawa, brings over 30 years of energy infrastructure and leadership experience, including roles at Tilt Renewables, HRL Morrison & Co, and Origin Energy. He will fill a casual vacancy on Contact’s Board and stand for election at the September Annual Shareholder Meeting.
