Here are the key changes to know about in the New Zealand equity market; Kathmandu, Infratil, SkyCity casino, and Tower post gains with NZX, Skellerup, Precinct Properties, and Ryman all declining

Here are the key things you need to know about in the NZX markets over the past 24 hours. Changes are as at 3:00 pm and may change when the market closes at 4:45 pm.

WHAT THE NZX 50 INDEX IS DOING
The NZX50 gained +0.7% today, lifting its monthly performance to +2.7% and sitting +5.1% higher than this time last year.

THE MAIN GAINERS
A total of 51 stocks finish in the green, led by Kathmandu Brands (KMD, #50), up +4%. Despite today’s bump, KMD fell -36% over the past six months and is down -39% year-on-year. Infratil (IFT, #4) added +2%, bringing its six-month return to +4% and its yearly gain to +8%. SkyCity Entertainment (SKC, #35) also climbed +2%, up +8% in the last five days, though still down -33% year-on-year. Tower Limited (TWR, #41) rose +2% and is now up +35% over six months.

THE MAIN DECLINERS
Meanwhile, 34 stocks decline. The NZX (NZX, #44) leads the fallers, down -3% today and -4% over the last five days, though it still holds a +26% gain year-on-year. Skellerup (SKL, #31) dipped -1% but remains up +1% over five days and +10% over the year. Precinct Properties (PCT, #21) also slipped -1%, with a +2% gain over six months and +1% for the year. Ryman Healthcare (RYM, #18) eased -1%, down -3% over five days and -40% year-on-year.

KEY ANNOUNCEMENTS
Spark (SPK, #11) announces a series of Board changes as part of its renewal process. Lindsay Wright, Vince Hawksworth, and Tarek Robbiati have been appointed as independent, non-executive directors, joining on 1 August and 1 October 2025. Lindsay will also become Chair of the Audit and Risk Management Committee (ARMC), replacing Gordon MacLeod, who steps down 1 September. Sheridan Broadbent will retire from the Board on 1 October due to a conflict of interest. Spark Chair Justine Smyth says the new directors bring strong experience across telecommunications, finance, infrastructure, and governance, supporting Spark’s transformation agenda and shareholder focus. All three will stand for re-election at the November 2025 Annual Meeting.
