WHAT THE NZX 50 INDEX IS DOING
The NZX50 edges up +0.5% today, lifting +0.9% over the past five days, +1.4% month-on-month, and +5.0% year-on-year.
THE MAIN GAINERS
Forty-eight stocks finished in the green, led by Heartland Group Holdings (HGH, #36), up +3% today. Despite the lift, Heartland is down -1% for the month, -28% over six months, and -22% year-on-year. SkyCity Entertainment (SKC, #35) rose +2%, though it’s still down -3% over five days, -31% over six months, and -37% year-on-year. Fletcher Building (FBU, #14) also gained +2%, but remains -3% down for the month, and flat year-on-year. Scales Corporation (SCL, #39) climbed +2%, bringing its year-on-year gain to +42%.

THE MAIN DECLINERS
Meanwhile, 31 stocks declined, with the day’s largest drops coming from Mainfreight (MFT, #9) and Mercury Energy (MCY, #5), both down -1%. Mainfreight is down -2% for the month but holds a +42% gain year-on-year. Mercury is up +1% for the month but down -3% over six months and -9% year-on-year. a2 Milk (ATM, #8) and Kiwi Property Group (KPG, #23) both eased -0.5%. a2 Milk is down -2% over five days, but up +32% over six months and +18% year-on-year. Kiwi Property slipped -1% over five days but remains +3% higher over six months and +10% up on the year.

KEY ANNOUNCEMENTS
Meridian Energy (MEL, #2) will hold its Annual Meeting of shareholders on Tuesday, 21 October 2025 in Wellington. Full details will be outlined in the upcoming Notice of Meeting.
The NZX (NZX, #44) Board has appointed Laura Manson as its next Future Director. A partner at venture capital and private equity firm Altered Capital, Manson brings over a decade of finance experience and a strong background in supporting growth and strategy execution across private and public markets. NZX Chair John McMahon says her strategic insight and experience working with founders and investors will add value to the boardroom. Manson replaces outgoing Future Director Sophie Spedding, whose contributions were acknowledged and appreciated by the Board.
Goodman Property Trust (GMT, #15) has secured all necessary approvals from its existing financiers to establish the new open-ended Highbrook Fund, as announced on 29 May 2025. The final approval covers GMT’s bank and bond arrangements, including its wholesale bonds and NZD $150m GMB060 green bonds listed on the NZX Debt Market. Waivers for the GMB060 bonds were granted by Public Trust, which confirmed there would be no material adverse effect on bondholders.
