WHAT THE NZX 50 INDEX IS DOING
The NZX50 is tracking a -0.1% decline today, though remains +12.6% higher over six months and +3.1% year-on-year.
THE MAIN GAINERS
There were 43 gainers on the board, led by Investore Property (IPL, #47), Briscoe Group (BGP, #28), and Scales Corp (SCL, #35) — each up +2%. IPL added +1% over five days, flat year-on-year. Briscoe is down -3% over five days, also flat annually. Scales continued its strong run, up +16% for the month and +59% year-on-year. Stride Property Group (SPG, #37) was unchanged over five days, but up +3% annually.

THE MAIN DECLINERS
Among the 34 decliners, Napier Port Holdings (NPH, #38) led with a -2% drop, though it remains up +30% over six months and +43% year-on-year. Gentrack (GTK, #33) fell -1%, despite a +3% gain over five days, and is down -15% year-on-year. Mercury Energy (MCY, #5) also eased -1%, up +2% over five days, but down -5% annually. Vista Group (VGL, #40) slipped -1%, extending its -10% five-day decline, and is now -16% lower year-on-year.

KEY ANNOUNCEMENTS
Mercury NZ (MCY, #5) has appointed Michele Mauger as Chief People Officer, effective Q1 2026. Mauger brings 35 years of experience in People leadership, including nearly two decades in executive roles. She joins from Vocus in Melbourne, having previously held senior HR positions at Cleanaway, Incitec Pivot, Metro Trains Melbourne, Thiess, and Worley Parsons. CEO Stew Hamilton said Mauger’s leadership will be instrumental in shaping Mercury’s future workforce. A structured handover will take place as outgoing CPO Fiona Smith steps down.
Vector (VCT, #11) reported a +1.2% annual increase in electricity connections to 634,269 and a +1.3% rise in distributed volume for the September quarter, driven by cooler temperatures. Gas connections fell -0.1% year-on-year, with new connections down -47.2%. SAIDI minutes for planned outages improved, while unplanned minutes rose due to Cyclone Tam.
