WHAT THE NZX 50 INDEX IS DOING
The NZX50 is shifting todays a higher close today, rising +0.3% to close out the final trading session of the week. Despite today's positive lift, the index remains down -0.4% over the past five trading days and -4.4% lower over the last six months, while maintaining a +2.0% gain over the past year. Market breadth was positive, with 48 stocks advancing compared with 33 decliners.
THE MAIN GAINERS
Gainers were led by Oceania Healthcare (OCA, #43), which climbed +9% for the session despite remaining down -12% over the past six months. Summerset Group (SUM, #20) gained +4%, extending its five-day performance to a +7% increase, while Mainfreight (MFT, #8) also rose +4%. Serko (SKO, #49) added +3%, continuing its recent momentum with a +10% gain over the week.

THE MAIN DECLINERS
Decliners were led by Tower (TWR, #36), which fell -3% despite remaining up +26% over the past year. Briscoe Group (BGP, #30) eased -2%, with Turners Automotive Group (TRA, #34) also down -2% after recent strength. Kathmandu Holdings (KMD, #50) declined -2%, extending its six-month decline to -61% and its one-year fall to -67%.

KEY ANNOUNCEMENTS
Oceania Healthcare (OCA, #43) reported a record FY26 result, with proforma underlying EBITDA rising +20% to $97.7 mln and total sales volumes increasing +16% to 603 units, supported by stronger sales momentum, operational efficiencies and continued portfolio refinement. Net debt reduced by $121.4 mln to $506.7 mln, bringing gearing back to 30.1%, at the lower end of the company’s target range, while net tangible assets per share increased +7.3% to $1.62. Statutory NPAT declined to $0.1 mln due to lower property revaluations and the closure of the Wesley Institute of Nursing Education, although Oceania highlighted improved cash performance, a 64% improvement in free cash flow outflows, and continued progress on cost-saving initiatives expected to deliver further benefits in FY27.
Fletcher Building (FBU, #14) announced that the sale of its Construction Division to VINCI Construction, the construction arm of the VINCI Group, had become unconditional, with completion scheduled for 29 May. The company also confirmed the transaction value had increased to approximately $334 mln, up from the previously announced $315.6 mln, following Higgins Contractors securing the East Waikato, Bay of Plenty and Hawkes Bay Integrated Delivery Contracts, subject to working capital and net debt adjustments.
Genesis Energy (GNE, #16) confirmed that it will release its FY26 financial results for the year ending 30 June 2026 before market open on Thursday, 27 August 2026.
