ING to offer split option for frozen fund holders

ING to offer split option for frozen fund holders

ING has announced investors in its frozen ING Diversified Yield Fund (DYF) and ING Regular Income Fund (RIF) will have the choice to receive both cash back immediately and wait for a payout after 5 years, rather than have to pick one or the other. ING said investors would have the option to receive 75% of their payment in 5 years with 25% cash this year, or receive 25% of their payment in 5 years time and 75% this year. A third option is half this year and half in 5 years. ING announced a proposal last month to investors with NZ$520 million in its frozen Diversified Yield Fund (DYF) and Regular Income Fund (RIF). It said they could opt for a guaranteed payout of 83 cents in the dollar in five years for the DYF fund and 86 cents for the RIF fund, or they can "˜cash out' of their funds this year with 60 cents and 62 cents respectively. This latest tweak allows them to pursue both options in different variations. ING said investors are likely to receive the full proposal in May before unit holder meetings in June.
