BNZ switches institutional banking head Shelley Ruha to new role of director for product and operations

The Bank of New Zealand (BNZ) says Shelley Ruha, its current head of institutional banking, will switch to the newly created position of director for product and operations from next month.

BNZ says Ruha will take up the new role in the BNZ leadership team on November 8.

"As the former head of corporate banking and BNZ Capital, she has broad banking experience and a successful 21 year track record with the Bank," BNZ says "Ms Ruha’s new portfolio will include product, operations, technology and business security & performance."

The new role for Ruha comes after BNZ last week said it had hired Renée Roberts from its parent National Australia Bank to replace the departing Martin Philipsen as its chief risk officer. BNZ's chief operating officer Stephen Mockett also quit the bank in August.

The newly created BNZ role that Ruha will fill sounds similar to ASB's position of chief executive for customers, markets and products, which Catherine McGrath took up early last year.

Ruha's appointment requires the standard Reserve Bank authorisation.
