RBNZ hires Steve Gordon from the BNZ as its new head of risk assessment and assurance

The Reserve Bank has hired Steve Gordon from the Bank of New Zealand (BNZ) to replace its retiring head of risk assessment and assurance Steve Anderson.

Gordon's appointment is effective from November 28.

The central bank says its risk assessment and assurance unit is responsible for ensuring the wide range of risks faced by the Reserve Bank are identified, monitored and managed. It says risks include financial, operational, and reputational risks. The unit Gordon will head up includes the Reserve Bank’s internal audit function.

Gordon has been at BNZ since 2002, where he has held head of risk business support and head of audit New Zealand jobs. Before BNZ he worked for Westpac from 1995-2002 and the National Bank from 1988-1995, where he specialised in information technology (IT) audit.

Gordon is a chartered accountant with a Bachelor of Commerce and Administration degree from Victoria University.
