Description of trading activities
Genesis Energy is a diversified New Zealand energy company. It sells electricity, reticulated natural gas and LPG through its retail brands of Genesis Energy and Energy Online. It is New Zealand’s largest energy retailer with around 500,000 customers. The Company generates electricity from a diverse portfolio of thermal and renewable generation assets located in different parts of the country. Genesis Energy also has a 46% interest in the Kupe Joint Venture, which owns the Kupe Oil and Gas Field offshore of Taranaki, New Zealand.

Malcolm Johns joined Genesis Energy in 2023, previously the Chief Executive of Christchurch Airport. Johns's main responsibility at GNE is leadership, strategic direction, and the corporate management of the company's business interests. Johns is a founding member of the Climate Leaders Coalition Steering Group. John's holds a Bachelor of Management Studies from the University of Waikato.

Barbara Chapman joined the Genesis Board in May 2018 and assumed the role of Chairman in October 2018. Chapman is also the Chairman of NZME and a director of Fletcher Building and the deputy chair of The New Zealand Initiative.
