After a week's unintended holiday, our comments section is back up-and-running so your opinion can be heard once again

After a week's unintended holiday, our comments section is back up-and-running so your opinion can be heard once again

For the past week, the ability to comment on articles and resource pages has been disabled on interest.co.nz.

That was because we installed a major update of our back-end systems last weekend. While almost of this upgrade went without a hitch, unfortunately our commenting feature (along with its credentialing links to Press Patron) did have hitches and we had to suspend it.

However, commenting is now back. And it should be identical to what you are used to.

You need to be registered to comment, and when registered, you need to log in. (If you are still logged in, with the return of this feature it would be best if you logged out and logged back in again, just this time.)

And when you log in, Supporters should use the "Log in with Press Patron" option. If you are not a Supporter, please use the other (second) or 'Standard' option to log in.

(A first remedy if you face any issues; please log out and log back in.)

We thank you for your patience and amazing support over this past week, and apologise for any inconvenience.

What hasn't changed is if you do wish to make a comment, please keep it respectful, on the issue at hand, and avoid personalising any criticism, i.e. personal attacks. You need to comply with our Commenting Policies. And please let us know (in the comment section below) if you are encountering any lingering issues. We are keen to get them resolved.

We of course welcome financial support to keep us going, so we maintain our standards of independent unbiased and unfiltered news, as well as allowing you to exercise your democratic freedom to express your thoughts. In addition, we have tools available for every Kiwi to use in helping them make informed financial decisions.

We welcome your comments below. If you are not already registered, please register to comment.

Remember we welcome robust, respectful and insightful debate. We don't welcome abusive or defamatory comments and will de-register those repeatedly making such comments. Our current comment policy is here.

All the interest.co.nz articles are great of course, but the comments add a lot of interest to the overall read and the website would not be the same without the public's contributions. Glad to see they are back.

Hooray.

I have nothing else to add.

When I found that I couldn't comment, I thought I'd be banned.

I was worried that people would miss my contributions.

The only thing that kept me through Level 4 lockdown was reading the ramblings of one commenter with multiple accounts. Glad this feature is back on as I missed my daily dose of delusion in the comment section!

We should consider making it just a word "Comments". And you'd need to click it to show and expand them all, if you wanted to read them...

Some light required reading Brian, https://www.dia.govt.nz/Spam---Commercial-electronic-messaging-in-New-Z…

You need to add an unsubscribe option to your output.

Read the articles then and ignore the comments. Simple.

There's some really good content (thanks Jenee & co!) but the diverse range of opinions from some really smart folk is what really makes interest.co stand out.

And yes, even you too xingmo :-)

Without comments interest.co.nz is like one sided conversation:

Body without soul

It felt like the government (and the opposition) was a bit lost without the ability to skim the interest.co comments :)

Up

... this government dont need our opinions , nor that of experts who actually know something : this government is self contained within their bubble of ideological " we know it all " -ness ...

And , the opposition are permanently paraniocally occupied with watching each others hands to see who might be carrying a dagger  ...

What we see here, is pent up demand for commenting.

Something else that is not transitory

Glad to see such joy at the return of the comments section. Also pleasantly surprised to see folks from all corners of the spectrum amicably running back to each other's arms like old friends, despite what may be perceived as their very lively and vigorous interactions.

You're all a bunch of softies at heart, aren't cha? And good folks in real life...  :-D
