Telecom chairman becomes director of ANZ's New Zealand arm

Telecom chairman Mark Verbiest is climbing on board as a director of ANZ Bank New Zealand Limited (ANZ NZ).

ANZ said the appointment has been approved by the Reserve Bank of New Zealand and Verbiest has joined the board as of now.

Verbiest is currently chairman of Telecom, Transpower New Zealand Limited and Willis Bond Capital Partners Limited. He is also a Director of Freightways Limited, and a board member of the Financial Markets Authority.

Other ANZ NZ directors are chairman John Judge, Tony Carter, Joan Withers, ANZ NZ CEO David Hisco, ANZ Group CEO Mike Smith and ANZ Group CFO Shayne Elliott.
