Residential auction activity fell back a bit over the last week, with interest.co.nz monitoring the auctions of 214 properties in the week of 15-21 August.

That was down from 251 the previous week and back near the three year low of 197 the week before that.

The number of properties being auctioned each week has been alternating from just under 200 to about 250, so overall activity still appears to be bouncing along at winter lows.

Indications about scheduled auction events next week show a marked up-tick however, as the market gets closer to its expected spring lift. Some large consolidated events are scheduled and the week will start with much better early activity.

Of the 214 properties on offer at the latest auctions, 78 were sold under the hammer, giving an overall sales rate of just 36%. That's the second time it has been under 40% in the last six weeks.

We are into the last week or so of winter, and with outsized inventories, there will be plenty of potential sellers hoping to hit the market early.

Details of all the individual properties offered at all the auctions monitored by interest.co.nz, including the selling prices of those that sold, are available on our Residential Auction Results page.
