Residential property auction activity remains flat, with no sign of spring appearing in the auction rooms yet.
Interest.co.nz monitored the auctions of 261 residential auctions around the country over the week of 5-11 September, barely changed from 258 the previous week.
Of the 261 properties offered at the latest auctions, sales were achieved on 97, giving an overall sales rate of 37%.
The sales rate has remained within a very narrow band between 36% and 38% for the last five weeks, suggesting little movement in market conditions. It appears stuck around winter lows for the time being.
At this time last year, auction activity was already beginning to lift in anticipation of the busier spring/summer selling season, however the spring lift remains missing in action so far this year.
