Auction room activity was slow but steady in the week leading up to the election

Auction room activity is slowly ticking over and remains well down from where it was at this time last year.

Interest.co.nz monitored the auctions of 354 residential properties around the country in the week leading up to the election (31 October - 6 November).

Of those, sales were achieved on 127 properties giving an overall sales rate of 36%.

That was slightly lower compared to the 380 properties on offer the previous week with a sales rate of 37%.

However, auction activity is substantially lower than it was at this time last year.

In the first week of November last year, interest.co.nz monitored the auctions of 466 properties with a sales rate of 43%, and by the end of that month the number of auctioned properties had shot up to around 600.

Which means that so far this month, auction activity is down by around a quarter compared to the same time last year.

Details of the individual properties offered at all of the auctions monitored by interest.co.nz, including the selling prices of those that sold, are available on our Residential Auction Results page.
