Prices range from $185,000 to $3.27m at Harcourts auctions throughout the country

Almost half of the Auckland homes sold at auction by Harcourts last week went for more than $1 million.

Harcourts latest auction results show that the agency sold 54 homes in Auckland in the seven days to August 14, of which 26 sold for $1 million or more and only three sold for less than $500,000.

The cheapest Auckland home sold was a three bedroom house with a carport at Manurewa in South Auckland (pictured). It went for $386,000. The most expensive sale was a house in Mt Eden that fetched $3.27 million.

In other centres, Harcourts took 23 Hamilton homes to auction last week, selling 21 of them at prices that ranged from $335,000 to $1.4 million, and there were a small number of auctions conducted in Rotorua, Napier, Hastings, Palmerston North, Lower Hutt, Wellington, Kapiti and Levin.

In Christchurch 26 properties were taken to auction and prices ranged from $185,000 for a property in Woolston to $947,000 for one in Riccarton.

Aren't we there yet? Has Auckland's house "average" house price met the Million mark by now (not medium average)?

Even a fairly average 3 bed houses on the outskirts of Auckland are in the upper 900K+ margins, particularly for North shore and beyond.
