WHAT THE NZX 50 INDEX IS DOING
The NZX50 declined by -0.1% today, up +1.0% for the past week but down -2.0% for the last six months. But it is up +6.4% year-on-year.
THE MAIN GAINERS
There are 31 gainers to start the trading week. SkyCity Entertainment (SKC, #34) has the biggest gain, up +5%. Over the last month SkyCity has declined by -5%, losing -36% year-on-year. Heartland Group Holdings (HGH, #35) also gained +5%, up +5% for the month. Year-on-year Heartland's share price declineed by -17%. Freightways (FRW, #21) gained +2%, which puts the company's share up +11% for the month. From this time last year Freightways now has gained a strong +41%. Followed by Auckland International Airport (AIA, #3) who also gained +2%, now up +5% year-on-year.

THE MAIN DECLINERS
37 companies post declines, led by The Warehouse Group (WHS, #48) who declined -3%. Over the last month The Warehouse Group has jumped +15%, down -17% year-on-year. F&P Healthcare (FPH, #1) also declined -3%, down -1% over the last month. Year-on-year F&P gained +20%. a2 Milk Company (ATM, #9) declined -2% today, gaining a healthy +36% over the last six month period. Year-on-year a2 has gained +12%. Followed by Tourism Holdings (THL, #49) down -2%, declining -23% for the year.

KEY ANNOUNCEMENTS
Comvita (CVT) has appointed Karl Gradon as Chief Executive Officer, effective 1 August 2025. Gradon brings global leadership experience from roles at Fonterra, Kerry Ingredients, and most recently as CEO of Miraka, where he led a successful business transformation. He also previously led growth at NZ Manuka Group, launching products into North America. Chair Bridget Coates said his expertise aligns with Comvita’s strategic priorities. Brett Hewlett will step down as Acting CEO on 31 July after leading the company through a period of transition and will remain in an advisory role until the end of September.
