The index has looking at a -0.3% decline, down -0.9% over the past five-day period. In the last six months it has gained +5.4%, up +4.5% year-on-year.
THE MAIN GAINERS
The NZX equity market recorded 30 gainers today, though movements for the top four gainers within the NZX50 were minor up +1%. Infratil (IFT, #4) declined -4% over five days, though remains up +10% over six months and down -6% year‑on‑year. Investore Property (IPL, #48) fell -5% month‑on‑month but is +3% higher annually. Fisher & Paykel Healthcare (FPH, #1) gained +2% month‑on‑month, though is -1% lower year‑on‑year. NZX Limited (NZX, #46) dropped -4% month‑on‑month but is up +3% for the year.

THE MAIN DECLINERS
There were 43 decliners across the board, led by Gentrack (GTK, #33) down -4%. Gentrack is +14% higher month‑on‑month but -34% lower year‑on‑year. Vista Group (VGL, #43) fell -2%, up +4% month‑on‑month but down -14% annually. Hallenstein Glassons (HLG, #45) also eased -2%, though is up +7% over five days and +29% year‑on‑year. Contact Energy (CEN, #5) likewise dropped -2%, but remains +2% higher annually.

KEY ANNOUNCEMENTS
Meridian Energy (MEL, #2) has provided financial assistance in connection with its FY26 Equity Plans, acquiring a total of 500,000 ordinary shares on market at prices between NZ$5.5961 and NZ$5.6126 per share, with an aggregate value of NZ$2.81mln including brokerage. The shares, purchased under section 80 of the Companies Act 1993, will be held as treasury stock and transferred to eligible participants if vesting and award conditions under the company’s long‑term incentive and deferred equity short‑term incentive plans are met.
NZX Operations (NZXO) has advised that the interest rate on Infratil Limited (IFT, #4) Bonds (IFTHC) has been reset to 5.20% per annum, effective on the 15th of December. The revised rate will be reflected in the NZX trading system from market open on the 16th.
Fletcher Building Limited (FBU, #14) has been joined as an additional respondent to the BGC claim against Iplex AU regarding Pro‑Fit pipe issues in Western Australia, following an interlocutory application by BGC. The company noted this step does not alter the substantive nature of the claims and confirmed it will defend the attempted extension of responsibility to Fletcher Building as part of its litigation strategy.
Auckland International Airport (AIA, #3) reported 885,000 international passenger movements in November 2025, up +3% on the prior year (+4% excluding transits), with seat capacity down -1% and average load factors rising to 86%. Short‑haul international traffic grew +5% with capacity up +4%, while long‑haul passenger numbers were flat but seat capacity fell -7%, lifting load factors to 85%. Domestic passenger movements declined -1% year‑on‑year despite a +1% increase in capacity, reducing load factors to 85%, with trunk routes up +1% in passengers but down in efficiency, and regional traffic down -5%. Queenstown Airport recorded strong growth, with international passengers up +20% and domestic up +6% on the prior year.
Fonterra Co‑operative Group Limited has appointed director Michelle Pye to the Board of FSF Management Company Limited, manager of the Fonterra Shareholders’ Fund, effective from the close of the Fund’s Annual Meeting on the 15th of December. She replaces Andy Macfarlane, who is retiring from both the FSF Management Company Limited Board and the Fonterra Board. Elected to Fonterra’s Board on the 11th of December, Pye brings more than 20 years’ experience co‑owning and operating Pye Group in Canterbury, alongside extensive governance roles including Timaru District Councillor, Chair of the Potato Seed Co‑operative, Director of Potatoes NZ, and prior service on the Fonterra Co‑operative Council and Sustainability Advisory Panel.
