Here are the key changes to know about in the New Zealand equity market; NZX50 falls -0.5% as Gentrack, Mercury, Skellerup and Turners rise, while a2 Milk, Freightways, Summerset and Air NZ retreat

Here are the key things you need to know about in the NZX markets over the past 24 hours. Changes are as at 3:00 pm and may change when the market closes at 4:45 pm.

WHAT THE NZX 50 INDEX IS DOING
The NZX50 is down -0.5%, extending its five-day decline to -0.8%, although the index remains +0.6% higher over the past month, +5.8% over six months and +6.3% higher over the past year. The market was tilted towards the downside, with 42 decliners compared with 34 gainers.

THE MAIN GAINERS
Gentrack (GTK, #47) was the strongest gainer, rising +4%, extending its five-day gain to +8% and its one-month increase to +7%, although it remains -43% lower over six months and -61% over the year. Mercury Energy (MCY, #6) climbed +3%, taking its five-day gain to +2%, while remaining -1% lower over the past month and sitting +7% higher over six months and +4% year-on-year. Skellerup Holdings (SKL, #26) added +1%, with its one-month gain reaching +10%, while it is +28% higher over six months and +52% over the past year. Turners Automotive (TRA, #35) also rose +1%, extending its five-day gain to +1% and leaving it -2% lower over six months, although it remains +21% higher year-on-year.

THE MAIN DECLINERS
a2 Milk (ATM, #8) was the weakest performer among the 42 decliners, falling -4%, taking its five-day decline to -4% and one-month loss to -6%, while remaining -29% lower over six months and -12% year-on-year. Freightways (FRW, #17) also dropped -4%, extending its five-day decline to -3% and one-month fall to -5%, with the stock down -7% over six months but still +15% higher over the past year. Summerset Group (SUM, #19) fell -3%, taking its five-day decline to -7% and one-month loss to -5%, while sitting -26% lower over six months and -28% year-on-year. Air New Zealand (AIR, #24) declined -2%, extending its five-day fall to -2% and one-month decline to -1%, with the airline down -30% over both six months and the past year.

KEY ANNOUNCEMENTS
a2 Milk (ATM, #8) reported FY26 revenue growth of +12.4% to $1.97 bln, with Infant Milk Formula up +5%, Other Nutritionals rising +42% and Liquid Milk increasing +22%, while underlying EBITDA grew +5.4% to $284.4 mln and underlying NPAT rose +7.0% to $207.5 mln. Supply chain disruption impacted China label IMF availability in 4Q26, but recovery actions are underway, while innovation contributed more than 50% of sales growth. The company declared a $300 mln special dividend and increased its ordinary dividend to 21.0 cents per share, with FY27 guidance calling for mid-single-digit revenue growth and an approximately 15% EBITDA margin.

Auckland Airport (AIA, #4) recorded a +2% increase in total passenger movements to 1.56 million in July, driven by a +5% rise in international passengers to 873,000, while domestic passenger movements fell -2% to 684,000. International seat capacity increased +5%, with load factors edging up 0.1 percentage points to 82%, while domestic capacity declined -5% and load factors rose +2.8 percentage points to 85%. Queenstown Airport also recorded strong growth, with total passenger movements up +12%, including a +22% increase in international passengers and a +4% rise in domestic passengers.

Freightways (FRW, #17) reported a +13.5% increase in FY26 revenue to $1.46 bln, while net profit from continuing operations rose +17.3% to $94.0 mln. The company declared a final dividend of 33.33 cents per share, including 9.33 cents of imputation credits, with the dividend payable on 1 October to shareholders on the 11th of September record date.

Synlait Milk has responded to media reports regarding a potential transaction involving third parties, confirming it is not involved in discussions with either the a2 Milk Company or Fonterra regarding the matters reported. The company said it has no further comment at this time.
