KEY ANNOUNCEMENTS
Promisia Healthcare (PHL) maintained group-wide care occupancy at 96% in September, remaining above its minimum 95% target and reaffirming FY27 underlying EBITDAF guidance of at least $8.0 mln, excluding its latest acquisition. Occupancy was particularly strong at its Feilding facilities, with Ranfurly Manor at 99% and Nelson Street at 100%, while Aldwins House in Christchurch recorded 97%. Cromwell facilities Golden View and Ripponburn experienced softer occupancy following winter illness, at 95% and 79% respectively, but both have begun recovering. Promisia completed its acquisition of Chatswood Retirement Village in Christchurch on 1 October, expanding its portfolio to six communities and strengthening its presence in the city. The company is also exploring an accelerated acquisition of Golden View Village, potentially bringing forward full ownership from August 2028 to March 2027, subject to securing funding. Promisia expects to release its HY27 interim results in mid-November, including updated FY27 guidance incorporating Chatswood.
Mercury Energy (MCY, #5) reported a strong first-quarter FY27 performance, with trading margin rising +19% year-on-year to $445 mln, an increase of $70 mln, despite Waikato hydro inflows falling to the second percentile from the 71st percentile a year earlier. Generation totalled 2,526GWh, with an additional 307GWh from wind and geothermal sources offsetting a 332GWh decline in hydro generation. Mercury also reached full generation at Kaiwera Downs Stage 2, completing its $486 mln expansion in two years and adding 155MW of capacity across 36 turbines. All 12 turbines at Kaiwaikawe Wind Farm are now installed, with generation having commenced in July, while construction at Puke Kapo Hau Wind Farm is expected to begin in November 2026. The company expects FY27 sustaining, investing and betterment (SIB) capital expenditure of around $150 mln and growth capital expenditure of $300 mln to $400 mln. Mercury reaffirmed that it remains on track to meet its FY27 EBITDAF guidance, supported by its diversified generation portfolio and continued renewable investment programme.
Fletcher Building (FBU, #13) reported a solid start to FY27, with first-quarter sales volumes ahead of the prior corresponding period in most core business units. Volumes largely followed normal seasonal patterns, although pipelines volumes declined as customers worked through inventory purchased ahead of Q4 FY26 price increases. Residential & Development remains challenging, particularly in Auckland, with the division expected to make a minimal contribution to first-half earnings. Fletcher Building said the outlook remains uncertain, with inflation and interest rate uncertainty affecting the timing and commencement of new residential and commercial projects.
Infratil (IFT, #4) will release its HY27 interim results for the six months ended 30 September on Wednesday, the 18th of November.
